Our Valentine's Day special event is a 2-hour experience offering both close-up and stage magic performances for your delight. These enchanting offerings will magically appear for one night only inside the Historic Santa Monica Hippodrome. With the carousel as our backdrop, you will be dazzled by our world-renowned magicians from Illusion Magic Lounge. Start times are available at either 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM.

Close Up Magic

Enter the Hippodrome and witness magic performed mere inches in front of your eyes! Our close-up magicians Paul Green and Georges-Robert will be performing their world-famous magic in an intimate setting.

Craft Cocktails

Between dazzling effects, stop by one of our bars and enjoy a delightful craft cocktails from the menu specially designed by our bartenders for this special event.

Stage Show

Finally, you and your loved one will take a seat and join us for our 40-minute parlour-style show. Jon Armstrong will astound you with his unique brand of special magical moments.

About our Venue

The Hippodrome, with its charming carousel, is an architectural gem. Built in 1916, the same year as the Santa Monica Pier on which it is located, the hippodrome was the last work of master carousel builder and amusement pioneer Charles I.D. Looff.

The Hippodrome is the oldest building on the Santa Monica Pier The hippodrome’s original carousel—the last ever built by Looff—was sold and dismantled long ago. The current merry-go-round has been in place since 1954 and is historic in its own right. It was built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, which produced carousels unmatched in lavish detail and craftsmanship from 1899 until 1934. This carousel was moved to Santa Monica from the Venice Pier and is notable for its hand-carved wooden horses, fanciful painted upper rim, and 1,100 electric lights.
